Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Communication Specialist to join its team. 

 

This is a full time benefit eligible position working 40 hours a week Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

The Communication Specialist (CS) is the primary creative, writing, and technical point person for the PHS Intranet site. The CS will work across the broader PHS organization to create, support, and advance a compelling online experience designed to increase staff effectiveness, communication and Christian culture. The CS is part of the communication team and collaborates to support all forms of communication at PHS.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In conjunction with internal departments and external partners, develop and implement digital marketing, social media, public relations, and communication plan, strategies, and  tactics to reach and engage specific and strategic audiences for PHS to achieve its goals.
  • Lead research, analyze information and formulate recommendations for assigned special projects. Define, develop, and execute project planning deliverables including work plans and schedules for assigned projects.
  • Create, curate, and edit content (copy, photos, videos) in alignment with organization strategies, marketing initiatives, employee recruitment, and to promote the brand overall.
  • Develop and execute digital marketing strategies like SEM/GEO campaigns, Digital advertising, etc.
  • Assist in creating processes and templates for tracking and analyzing digital trends, insights, and campaign results using Google Analytics.
  • Perform keyword research to better understand highly searched questions and topics, and words target audiences use to search for products and services. Work with PHS functions and communities to assist and guide the development of engaging content related to residents, staff, volunteers, donors, projects, key initiatives, and Christian culture.
  • Provide support for complex meetings, demonstrating capability in audio/video conferences and mastery of other technology as needed. Plan, prepare, and coordinate special meetings including agendas, meeting materials, logistics, action items, travel, and catering.
  • Attend community events to capture resident stories through interviews and meaningful interactions.
  • Support multiple websites by maintaining, and updating content using keyword research.
  • Manage web page refresh calendar and optimize and update pages as necessary.  Evaluate user page engagement and suggest changes to enhance User Experience. Provide training and strategic direction to community Facebook champions. Assist communities in ongoing management of their social media presence as needed.
  • Support strategic decisions about which online directories to participate in and develop support processes for maintaining and monitoring PHS community listings and reviews.
  • Assist in monitoring comments and reviews on external digital platforms such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and respond on behalf of the organization. Partner with Senior Communication Specialist to review for escalation to Site Leaders and Human Resources, service recovery, and to protect the brand.
  • Coordinate PHS events or assist with coordination as needed.
  • Promote continuous self-development and growth. Exhibit technical competence by being familiar with and ensuring compliance with regulations and established best practices. Use independent judgment to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and decision-making.
  • Support the integration of Christian culture and Christian heritage through communication and education systems and recognize the importance of spiritual matters to residents and employees.
  • Other areas as identified by Director of Digital Marketing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, or related field.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in marketing, communication, or related field, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft 365 (Word Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), project management, and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities
  • Possess the ability to deal sensitively and tactfully with customers (employees, visitors, vendors and the general public).
  • Must function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility, be a team player, willing to take directions, accept responsibility for meeting objectives, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with the PHS mission and operating philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.

Pay Range

The estimated starting pay range for this role is $24.35 - $30.44 per hour. This good faith estimate is based upon PHS’s typical starting pay range for this role. Actual pay range depends upon many factors including each individual employee’s qualifications and market conditions and is subject to change.
