Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking an Education & Training Specialist to join our team.  This position works in a collaborative manner with Presbyterian Homes & Services Management and Services Clinical, Operations and Function Leaders in the development and facilitation of education curriculum, standard on-boarding/orientation facilitation, competency development and monitoring and continued education activities of PHS employees. 

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE:  The Education & Training Specialist reports to the Director of Clinical Education and works collaboratively with the Clinical and Site Leaders and Functional leaders.

 

 

Responsibilities

The Education & Training Specialist is responsible for training, education and in-service programming that will engage employees to meet PHS and personal goals.

 

Some of responsibilities of this position are:

  • Collaborate with other members of the clinical, operations, and other functional leaders to identify, meet and support learning and development needs of PHS employees during both onboarding/orientation and ongoing.
  • Partner with clinical leaders in the development of curriculum and effective delivery systems to meet these needs.  Assure availability of programs necessary to meet Federal and State regulations; understand and ensure quality principles are integrated into educational offerings, including elements of the care and hospitality model.
  • Creatively manage continuous improvement of clinical curriculum content and delivery systems that promotes practical application in the business including recording, scheduling, and communication of learning opportunities 
  • Utilize computer-based learning system in managing and recording training occurrences and related initiatives.
  • Continued development, implementation and monitoring of education activities as new or revised skills level/programs and educations standard needs are identified.
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of federal and state standards and regulations which govern the operation of PHS facilities and the implications of health care, governmental, and legal factors in the provision of post acute care as well as of clinical information systems/software processes, care planning processes, regulatory standards and resident assessment. These include but are not limited to: OBRA/state regulations; OSHA; joint commission; nursing boards/nursing practice; restorative nursing; state reimbursement processes; assisted living/senior housing; and the use of quality indicators.
  • Utilize knowledge of nursing processes/procedures, knowledge of costs associated with different levels of patient care, and knowledge in reimbursement issues related to post acute care in the development and delivery of training

 

The primary classes taught by the Education & Training Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Clinical Competency classes for our Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide employees and Nurses
  • Mechanical lift training
  • Catheter and Peri care
  • Handwashing
  • Vitals
  • Medication Administration (Dispensing and Documentation)
  • Onboarding and Annual Review
  • Others as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in Adult Education, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, HR, or relevant field.  
  • Clinical Educators require current licensure as a Registered Nurse and minimum 2 years nursing experience. Experience working in senior Assisted Living and/or Care Center preferred. 
  • Experience working in collaborative relationships.
  • Experience with technology-based instruction.
  • Demonstrated competency in teaching and applying principles of adult learning.
  • Flexibility to work and travel to more than one location and work on weekends and after business hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common computer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’ mission and operating philosophies.

Pay Range

The estimated starting pay range for this role is $72,738 - $90,917 per year. This good faith estimate is based upon PHS’s typical starting pay range for this role. Actual pay range depends on many factors including each individual employee’s qualifications and market conditions and is subject to change.
