Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services - HallMar Village is seeking a full time Health Information Specialist for our team. The Health Information Specialist is responsible for overall resident clinical record quality in the care center.  The Health Information Specialist is responsible for organizing and maintaining medical records for residents consistent with regulations, policies and procedures and established best practices.

 

Full time, Monday-Friday

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Health Information Specialist reports to the Clinical Administrator or designee.

This senior living community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartment homes, as well as long term care suites. Responsibilities

• Maintain overall resident clinical record quality in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
• Monitor the medical record for completeness and accuracy. This includes but is not limited to gathering and organizing information for resident/patients’ health records, processing forms for admissions, readmissions, discharges and resident transfers, organizing, thinning and destroying health records per policy, completing ICD-9 coding for all new residents/patients and on an ongoing basis for current residents/patients.

Qualifications

  • Long term care experience in medical records and knowledge/experience of as a Health Unit Coordinator. Degree in medical records technology preferred.
  • ICD-10 coding knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, medical software, data base user interface and query software and document management software. 
  • Demonstrated compatibility with the PHS mission and operating philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
