Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is seeking a Benefits and Compensation Manager who will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing our comprehensive benefits programs. 

 

As a Benefits and Compensation Manager at PHS, you'll be serving nearly 8000 employees across a multi-state organization, providing innovated and compassionate leadership in benefits and compensation administration. 

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Benefits and Compnesation Manager reports to the Director of Total Rewards and Systems and directly manages members of the total rewards department.

Responsibilities

The Benefits and Compensation Manager is responsible for leading the development, execution, implementation, communication, and administration of competitive and cost-effective program management for compensation, employee benefits, recognition, Employee Assistance Plan (EAP), and employee wellness. This position will help ensure PHS is competitive, clear in meeting its position in the market, and in alignment with PHS's total rewards philosophy, to support and improve PHS culture, including attraction, reward, and retention of our employees. This role ensures competitive, cost-effective offerings that attract and retain top talent while maintaining regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, wellness, and retirement plans. Manage vendor relationships, ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA, and lead annual open enrollment. Provide leadership on benefits communication, leave administration, and employee wellness initiatives.

Compensation Management:

  • Develop and maintain compensation structures, salary guidelines, and incentive programs in alignment with market benchmarks and organizational strategy. Ensure compliance with FLSA regulations, conduct job evaluations, manage salary review processes, and provide guidance on pay-related decisions.

Leadership & Compliance:

  • Lead and develop a team of total rewards professionals. Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to align strategies with business objectives. Drive process improvements and technology enhancements to streamline total rewards administration while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CEBS, CCP, SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in benefits and compensation management, including leadership experience.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications, various payroll/HRIS systems and benefit vendor software. Microsoft Excel proficiency required including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, and deadlines with ability to prioritize. Persistence and ability to work independently to drive execution.
  • Strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to understand, evaluate, and make judgment on proposals (RFP’s and underwriting bids).
  • Experience negotiating with insurance companies and brokers to ensure proper coverage and service.
  • Experience filing 5500 Benefits Tax returns and pre-filing audit processes.
  • Effective working knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws such as FMLA, HIPPA, ERISA Law, and Benefits laws.
  • Excellent organization, written, interpersonal, and communication skills; strong attention to detail.

Pay Range

The estimated starting pay range for this role is $102,000 -126,500 per year. This good faith estimate is based upon PHS’s typical starting pay range for this role. Actual pay range depends on many factors including each individual employee’s qualifications and market conditions and is subject to change.

Full-time benefits-eligible employment begins at a minimum of 30 hours per week:
