Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services, Management & Services division is seeking an Part-Time Weekend Employee Health Nurse (RN) to join its Employee Health team.

 

The Weekend Employee Health Nurse position is regularly scheduled part time working Saturdays and Sundays. This position will also triage level one after hour emergency employee health calls from Friday evening to Monday morning.

 

We are seeking an experienced individual who is self-motivated, and likes to work independently. This is the perfect opportunity for a Nurse (RN) who is seeking a flexible, part time position.

Responsibilities

The Weekend Employee Health Nurse is responsible for providing support to Presbyterian Homes & Services sites in MN, WI and IA with employee health needs over the weekend. Additionally, this position may be assigned routine employee health duties to support work injury management and pre-employment screening when not taking calls.

 

Triage Support:

  • Support PHS sites with employee health needs over the weekend
  • Triage manager and employee needs over the phone
  • Respond to an manage incoming sick calls. Evaluate the symptoms of employee illnesses or injuries and determine an employee's ability to work based on safety standards and infection control criteria
  • Manage Return To Work calls and requests following illness or injury
  • Coordinate non-work-related Injuries and restrictions
  • Manage outbreak coordination as directed by EHN Manager for the weekend
  • Triage incoming calls that may need to go to the Leave Administrator for FMLA and Medical Leaves. Guide the employee appropriately, ensuring smooth hand-off to Leave Administration

Work Injury Management:

  • Manage work injuries as they come in on the weekends
  • Support employees and managers by phone
  • Triage employee needs over the phone
  • Submit First Report of Injury per policy
  • Help manage temporary modified duty over the weekend
  • Ensure good communication and hand-off with the Full Time Employee Health Nurse Case Manager

Health Screens:

Ensure safe and effective placement of employees offered positions at PHS by coordinating and performing pre-employment health screening processes. Perform and review the pre-employment health assessment in compliance with laws, regulations.

  • Pull health screens on the weekend
  • Answer calls with new health screens
  • Print and scan TB results into individual employee records

Other areas as identified to support aligned goal setting and achievement as driven by Employee Health Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with current licensure in state(s) of designated facilities. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years successful experience as a Registered Nurse in occupational health, acute care, long term care or related, preferably in an occupational health nurse or nurse management role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the employees served at designated sites.
  • Previous experience and demonstrated knowledge in Worker’s Compensation, FMLA, ADA and disability laws, employee assessment, DOT, OSHA, and occupational health nursing functions. Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse preferred. Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in each area.
  • High interpersonal, assessment, communication, and negotiation (both oral and written) skills required. Must be effective at handling sensitive medical and confidential information.
  • Strength in independent decision making, problem solving, and follow through required.
  • Excellent in influencing, consulting, and networking skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously and to identify and resolve exceptions and to interpret data.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
