Presbyterian Homes & Services - Castle Ridge in Eden Prairie is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant Specialist to join our team.  The Life Enrichment Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring assigned life enrichment / leisure life programming for residents consistent with regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices. 



SCHEDULE/HOURS: This would be an afternoon/evening position when needed with preferred hours being 3pm-7pm for weekdays and Saturday hours are flexible.



The Life Enrichment Specialist reports directly to the Life Enrichment Director or other supervisor designated at the site. This person may provide guidance to volunteers, students and household staff as directed by Supervisor. The Life Enrichment Specialist will serve as a mentor and guide to household staff in the area of life enhancement activities and Life Enrichment programming.

Reponsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • As a member of the team, actively participate in household function, and campus activities, meetings and processes. Assist fellow team members with the completion of their work when assigned or needed.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive plan of leisure life/Life Enrichment services for residents of the household .
  • Collaborate with residents, families, other professionals and staff to implement established programs that meet the psychosocial and activities needs of residents and the Household, including creating diverse opportunities for meaningful pursuits, daily pleasures, life enrichment , exercise, friendships, social interaction, growth and learning, fun and enjoyment, personal routines, spontaneous activity and Household rituals.
  • Lead and participate in Chat Circles with residents and staff in the household daily. Assist residents with activities of their choice, group, individual or one on one. Provide for resident leisure life activities. Take residents outdoors, or out in the facility community. Plan and implement and participate in outings and special events.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as needed for residents such as shopping, running errands, assisting with correspondence, reading/writing letters etc.
  • Provide consultation, evaluation, and assessment of residents as needed. Implement treatment plans. Participate in patient/resident care planning with the team and other health care providers. Provide resident, family and staff education/consultation. Communicate resident leisure status and needs to the resident, their family, staff and other professionals (i.e. care conferences).
  • Participate in discharge planning processes. Maintain records by practice standards, third party payers and regulatory agencies. Complete necessary portions of MDS/QMDS/care plans as required.
  • Attend IDT meetings and provide accurate and timely information. Attend care conferences and family conferences according to preapproved timelines and frequency to ensure excellent communication and care coordination for life enrichment services.


Is a qualified therapeutic Life Enrichment specialist or an activities professional with:

  1. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Life Enrichment, Occupational Therapist, COTA or related field. Specialized training or experience in geriatric activities, social work or gerontology is desirable. Is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the State in which practicing.
  2. Two (2) years of experience in a social or Life Enrichment program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
  3. Class B license or ability to obtain within six months of hire as required by site.
  4. Demonstrated leadership qualities, leadership skills, interpersonal relationship skills and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing activities practice and leadership.
  5. Strong assessment skills, including good insights into resident preferences and needs. Demonstrated strong communication and relationship building skills with residents, and ability to explain resident needs to others as needed for resident advocacy. 
  6. Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies.
  7. Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
