  • Overview

    Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS), is seeking a full time Network Engineer to join its Information Technology team.  PHS is the 4th largest not-for-profit senior housing and services provider in the country with 43 locations in MN, IA and WI.  We are faith based and live our values through our actions.

    Responsibilities

    Design, analyze, and support the company’s network infrastructure across the enterprise based on requirements and standards. It is imperative that appropriate standards are documented, maintained and followed with the goal of providing high network availability and an unsurpassed level of service to our customers.

     

    In conjunction with the whole of PHS IT and in response to requirements from the other PHS groups, engineer, implement and support appropriate enterprise as well as local solutions in the following capacities (list is not all inclusive):

    • Design, build, and maintain network and VoIP infrastructure to achieve high availability and performance requirements
    • Provide network implementation build-outs of all data infrastructure including WAN, LAN, Wireless in remote locations
    • Provide all levels of troubleshooting and problem resolution on an as-needed basis
    • Collect and analyze data about the performance and capacity of the network and its components, and make recommendations to management
    • Create and maintain project and site documentation
    • Ensure proper escalation procedures are followed if a sensitive issue or a major problem is suspected
    • Minimize client productivity loss caused by technical outages
    • Ability to upgrade and replace network infrastructure to the approved IT standards.
    • Documentation for all data centers and supported agencies including network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting and business continuity procedures
    • Make smart business decisions and manage projects independently, sometimes under tight deadlines
    • Coordinate business unit requirements by gathering discussions to obtain design specifications to meet the stated objectives
    • Work in conjunction with other IT and business units to provide turn-key solutions
    • Build and maintain vendor relationships as they pertain to networking
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 4 year college degree in MIS, IT, or related field required
    • CCNA/CCNP certification or equivalent job related experience a plusMinimum 5+ years experience working core networking technologies:OSPF, 802.3, TCP/IP, 802.11, SNMP (2c and 3), STP, CDP/LLDP, WAN (MPLS, IPSec VPN over Cable and DSL), QOS, DHCP, DNS
    • Minimum 5+ years experience supporting a multi-site network
    • An expert understanding of either Cisco or Juniper infrastructure and product families
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex data and VoIP networks
    • Experience with network management tools to detect and resolve network issues
    • Ability to work independently to manage projects from inception to production. Ability to solve problems quickly and see them through to completion
    • Ability to lead implementation teams in the deployment of networks and problem resolution of complex network problems
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Ability to participate in a 24X7 on call rotation
    • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers
    • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies
