  • Overview

    Presbyterian Homes and Services (PHS) is seeking a Corporate Director of Clinical Services to join our team.  This person will provide leadership and vision for our clinical services across a continuum of care that includes Assisted Living, Memory Care, Transitional Care, and Long Term Care for PHS communities located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa with ultimate responsibility for leading and overseeing the planning and organizing of our service delivery as well as being a champion of quality standards that meet our mission, vision and values.

     

    Candidates must be willing to travel to PHS sites regularly and also collaborate with external organizations to build service capacity through community outreach and partnerships.  Our home office is in Roseville, MN.  

     

    REPORTING STRUCTURE

    The Director of Clinical Services reports to the Vice President of Operations and supervises the Regional Director of Clinical Operations and Traveling Clinical Administrators as well as other shared services employees such as Triage and Corporate Resource nurses. 

    Responsibilities

    1. Set and monitor performance/outcome standards for all areas of the clinical functions across the continuum, including staffing standards, policies, procedures and forms.
    2. Regularly audit and monitor clinical systems, including organization-wide monitoring of appropriate key measures for the function. Monitoring will include regular site visits to observe functions and to interact with employees, residents, and families.
    3. Lead appropriate functional work groups.
    4. Identify and spread best practices among clinical functions. Ensure practices are consistent with corporate direction.
    5. Orient and train (optional to assist in hiring) new site clinical leaders, particularly Clinical Administrators. Develop standard orientation checklist.
    6. Act as “1st call for help” and consultation for issues identified by the site or others.
    7. Develop new systems as needed and work to continuously improve current systems.
    8. Monitor changes in applicable rules/regulations and ensure that sites are aware of changes and that appropriate systems are in place to respond to changes.
    9. Assist in the 9-box planning process by determining appropriate functional objectives for the organization, gathering organization-wide budget assumptions, and assisting the sites to develop appropriate revenue and expense assumptions, including capital.
    10. Provide interim coverage of Clinical leadership at the sites as needed.
    11. Ensure proper education and development activities are in place to maintain and improve the function.
    12. Act as a resource to all site leaders and their teams, both representing the technical expertise and joining with other Operational team members in joint problem solving – always with a focus on quality improvement.
    13. Assure an effective communication and problem solving process is in place to optimize the flow of information from and to facilities and corporate. Assure collaboration between sites and corporate functions to achieve desired corporate and site goals.
    14. As appropriate, manage complaints or concerns from residents, families, employees and/or other site customers when they are not resolved at the site level or come to M&S’ attention.
    15. Serve as point person for vendors and contracts related to clinical systems. Oversee the selection of “preferred vendors” and ensure adherence to purchasing commitments. Responsible for coordinating the selection of new vendors as needed.
    16. Consult with SHP on new project development to advise in the areas of physical plant, staffing levels, and other proforma elements.
    17. Serve as the point person for function-related software. Oversee the selection of best software or aspects of technology to maximize the function, balanced with available resources. Ensure all Appropriate staff are trained in and using the software/technology.
    18. Serve as the contract manager for clinical-related contracts, particularly in the areas of county contracts.

    Qualifications

    • Registered Nurse in Minnesota and willingness to become licensed in WI and IA
    • 5-10 years of clinical management experience in assisted living and care centers
    • Extensive knowledge in regulatory requirements, nursing practice and litigation proceedings
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. (pretty standard for most of our PD’s
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common computer programs
    • Ability to travel
    • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
    • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’ mission and operating philosophies.
